General

The Jordan River Learning Federation is composed of five schools, a school farm and a Trade Training Centre, integrated with a child and family health centre and a LINC.

The JRLF is coeducational and caters for students from birth to year 12 and beyond.

As a Federation of schools we have:
  • three primary campuses that cater for students from birth to Year 5
  • a Middle School campus for students in Years 6 to 8
  • a Senior School campus for students in Years 9 to 12
  • a Trade Training Centre catering for students who wish to focus on specific skills-based vocational education and training courses, and
  • a School Farm that runs special programs catering for students from birth to Year 12.
We are located approximately 21 kilometres north of central Hobart, at Bridgewater in southern Tasmania. Our school sites feature well landscaped grounds with up-to-date play equipment

Recent renovations have seen a major upgrade of all school facilities, including:
  • a new state of the art Science block
  • a new Year 9 and 10 building
  • a new Year 11 and 12 building
  • a new fully functional Performing Arts Centre
  • a new Gymnasium, including weights room
  • a new Trade Training Centre that caters for plumbing, electrical, building, bricklaying, mechanical and spray-painting trades
  • a totally refurbished Middle School
Our schools draw students from Bridgewater and surrounding suburbs and towns as far north as Oatlands and as far south as Kingston and Sorell, with a varied intake each year.

A key feature of our schools is the grade structure which enables staff to work as grade teams in providing students with pastoral care and support.

Through the Big Picture program in Years 9 and 10 and an emphasis on Individual Learning Plans in Year 8 we take care to help students learn at the individual level.
